![]() With the discovery of a wine press made by his great-grandfather, Sal Maiolatesi was inspired to dip his toe into the winemaking craft. One of the first family wineries in Lackawanna County, Maiolatesi Wine Cellars has grown considerably in its 20 years in existence. Case Quattro Winery is just over eight miles from Hotel Anthracite. Live entertainment often accompanies tasting hours and the winery also hosts special events throughout the year. With the winery on Main Street in Peckville, the Sebastianellis are able to keeps the tradition going among younger generations while sharing their heritage with the community at large. Winemaking has been a family pastime for generations. Capra Collina offers a wide variety of sweet wines as well as dry whites and dry reds. Visitors to the winery on the Scranton-Carbondale Highway in Blakely can enjoy in-house wine tastings- five different vintages for $3- or take home a bottle to enjoy. Today they craft wine the same way as their father and grandfather before them. After the family settled in Jessup, PA the tradition continued. Additional business on site include Dunmore Candy Kitchen, RiverView Ice Cream, Old Man John’s Apiary and Sugar Babies LTD. Guests may enjoy bottle service or tasting of the vintages made in house. The big red barn housing the winery is also located adjacent to the Lackawanna River Heritage Trail and offers expansive outdoor seating.
